From the recording Live from the Jam Dept. Studio!

Dana wrote the initial draft of this song and had been thinking of it as a rock song until one day Bob bolted upright from a nap and said "Been a Long Time, Baby has to be a reggae song!" Dana agreed, and the rest is history. This version of it was from a studio jam with Irem Ayan on bass and Bob Alan Bricks on drums.

Lyrics

Been a long time, Baby
Been a long, long, time
Been a long time, Baby
Even though you’re mine
Been a long time since you held me tight
Been a long time, Baby… and that ain’t right

Well, wake up, Baby
You know I need you so
I say, wake up, Baby
I’m feeling all alone
Wake up Baby, show me that you care
Wake up Baby… and take me there

Don’t leave me hangin’
I’m so good to you
Don’t leave me hangin’ now,
I don’t do that to you
Don’t leave me hangin’ out in the breeze
Don’t leave me hangin’, pretty, pretty please

SOLO

Been a long time
You know it’s been a long time
It’s been too damn long
And Honey, that’s just wrong

Been a long time, Baby
Been a long, long, time
Been a long time, Baby
Even though you’re mine
Been a long time since you held me tight
Been a long time though it was just last night
Been a long time, Baby… And that ain’t right
